Know for Sure
The earliest way to confirm a pregnancy is with an ultrasound. First, you need to know if you really are pregnant. At Tender Care you will receive pregnancy testing that is 99% accurate. If that test is positive, you may be offered an Ultrasound.
What is Ultrasound?
An ultrasound is a simple, safe procedure that uses sound waves to learn about your pregnancy.
Tender Care provides limited ultrasound for three reasons.
- See how far along you are (gestational age).
- Verify the pregnancy is in your uterus. (A pregnancy outside of your uterus is an ectopic pregnancy and can pose a life-threatening risk to you and you should see a Dr. as soon as possible.)
- Determine if the pregnancy is viable. An ultrasound can reveal if you your pregnancy is non-viable (no heartbeat) or you may have experienced a miscarriage, so you can seek further medical care.
Before Abortion
An ultrasound is an important next step even if you’re considering abortion.
According to the Mayo Clinic, 10-20% of pregnancies result in miscarriage. An ultrasound serves as a crucial tool to determine if your pregnancy is viable (developing as expected). If the pregnancy is found to be non-viable, it may help you avoid an unnecessary abortion procedure.
An ultrasound will also tell you how many weeks pregnant you are, which determines the types of abortion procedures available to you.

Jade was incredibly thankful she visited Tender Care for an ultrasound before abortion. Seeing her twins on the screen made her decision clear – “This is a miracle! I can’t go through with an abortion knowing there are twins.”
“I was nervous to get an ultrasound, but was curious to see how far along I was. Everyone was so nice and I was able to get the answers I needed to make the best decision for me.” Sara
